Mr. Robert A. Ashley, M.A. serves as the Chief Operating Officer and President of Virionics Corporation. Mr. Ashley serves as Chief Executive Officer of Ashley BioPharm LLC. He has been the Chief Technical Officer and Executive Vice President at Vital Therapies, Inc. since September 2013. He served as Chief Operating Officer of Vital Therapies, Inc. since May 2008 until September 2013. He is responsible for the management and integration of VTI's regulatory and clinical strategy worldwide. His career in the pharmaceutical industry extends over 26 years. He served as the President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Amplimed Corp. from 2004 to March 2007. He is the author of several scientific papers and is the inventor of several issued and pending patents. Mr. Ashley received his MA in Biochemistry from St. Peter's College, Oxford University.

Dr. Duane Nash, M.D., J.D., M.B.A. has been the President of Vital Therapies, Inc. since March 08, 2016. Dr. Nash served as the Chief Business Officer at Vital Therapies, Inc. from March 19, 2012 to March 8, 2016 and also served as its Executive Vice President from May 2013 to March 2016. Mr. Michael V. Swanson, also known as Mike, M.B.A., has been Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Vital Therapies, Inc. since August 2013 and September 06, 2013 respectively. Mr. Swanson has been Executive Vice president of Vital Therapies, Inc since March 2016. He served as the Chief Financial Officer at Amira Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since June 2008. Mr. Swanson served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance of Prometheus Laboratories Inc. from July 2000 to December 2007. Mr. Swanson Received an MBA from the University of Southern California and a BS in Business Administration from the California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Aron P. Stern, M.B.A. has been the Chief Administrative Officer of Vital Therapies, Inc. since August 2013 and served as its Secretary since October 2005 until February 2015. Mr. Stern served as Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Vice President of Vital Therapies, Inc. since June 2003 until September 06, 2013. He has over 20 years of experience in capital formation, acquisitions, financial strategy and financial and operational management in growth-stage high technology and biotechnology companies. Mr. Stern has been employed at biomedical companies: from 1989 to 1992 as Director, Finance and Administration at Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and from 1992 to 1998 as Vice President of Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer at Protein Polymer Technologies, Inc. He held accounting and financial positions at a variety of high technology companies including Apple Computer, Inc. For 9 years, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Protein Polymer Technologies Inc., 4-D Neuroimaging and for 3 years with VitaGen. He serves as a Director of Vital Therapies (Beijing), Co. Ltd. Mr. Stern received a B.S. degree in Economics and Business Administration and an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of California ??? Berkeley.
