We're all different. Different backgrounds, ideas. Some of us didn't even start out in our current industry/profession so we're able to bring in many different perspectives that most tech companies/startups just don't consider let alone encourage.
They value feedback and insight beyond an 'I'll take it into consideration' level. You come to the team with an idea, you're going to be encouraged to see it through. Even during the interview process, you're encouraged to add your opinion and strategies.
Everyone cares. There's no 'just here for a check' people at Yembo because Yembo doesn't hire people that live to work. We care because we love our software and we work with really smart and empathetic people. We work hard but it isn't a typical startup grind.
I'm challenged. I'm tasked with stepping outside the box to find solutions every day. I've pushed myself hard and see the results of my hard work daily. I work with people that are also challenged and rise to the occasion but will also support you if you ask.
I got to talk to my future manager about the company and work style. I was able to present my strategy to be successful in my role in a way that was relevant to the role at Yembo. It was challenging & clear that I wasn't just being asked to prove I know what I'm doing with an arbitrary assignment.
