Mission Statement

Founded in 1962, the Texas Heart Institute is dedicated to reducing the devastating toll of cardiovascular disease through innovative programs in research, education and patient care. The Texas Heart Institute and its clinical partner, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, have become one of the nation's largest cardiovascular centers. Members of the Institute's 160 member professional staff have performed more than 100,000 open heart operations, 200,000 cardiac catheterizations and 1,000 heart transplants - experience no other facility can match. The Texas Heart Institute has offered hope to victims of cardiovascular disease around the world. As long as heart disease remains a threat to all our lives, its efforts will continue.
