What makes you most happy at work?

I love producing the programming and connecting students/community members to the resources my job gives me access to. The job is great-- the scaffolding that is supposed to support me is what is awful.

What did you like most about the interview process?

I had questions to cover but there was time to talk a bit more informally and for me to ask questions as well. I think this more informal space is what actually got me my position.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Creating a workplace culture that makes me not dread coming to work every day. DEI processes/training built in for staff and implemented in terms of administrative work, not just our public facing programs. Learning how to make staff feel valued. Increased transparency. Less micro-managing.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

The work itself is great. I'd be so happy remote just doing my own thing at this point even though I like collaborating. I love when I get to work with students and community members and do so via zoom a lot (and in person) but hate coming into my office culture.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

I am underpaid (even for working at ASU) and there's no path forward built into my department. Our "merit raises," if we are deemed worth a merit raise, don't even keep up with inflation. My director doesn't reflect back in ways that make you think he hears you and very defensive if critique occurs.
