It is what it is. You work for the state, underpaid, but with good benefits if you have a family and kids that go to college or will. It's a trade off. If you're young and have some ambition, go private sector. If you don't have ambition/care about money, you'll be fine here.

Working with agency and not being tasked with useless things from management.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Transparency and be more down to earth. A lot of privilege above the manager level and they like it that way.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
We're underpaid, most of us. Rolling out the boilerplate that we get tuition benefits etc gets old and hollow, especially when from folks making 2x or more than we do.
