How would you compare interviewing at Northside Hospital to other places you've interviewed?

We work to make our process as smooth as possible for our applicants! We would love to hear your feedback!
It is very intimidating to be placed in a room with 4-5 management level personnel all firing questions and trying to read each of there reactions.

In your opinion, what are the most common interview questions that Northside Hospital asks?

Why Northside? We seek potential candidates that share our passion for quality and excellence!
The same questions on dealing with conflict and how many times have you called out and what are reasons for calling out.
How did you deal with conflict
Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from Northside Hospital?
5 management level employees
How often do promotions happen at Northside Hospital?
Rare
What is the best advice you could give someone during their first month at Northside Hospital?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
Ask as many questions about how to find policy’s as it is a very policy driven hospital. Make sure you find a co- worker who has been there for some time to explain to you about seniority and what to do about calling out and who to reach out to.
Is it possible to switch teams at Northside Hospital? If so, what is the process?
No. Very hard. At Cherokee it is all who you know.
What is the hardest interview question Northside Hospital asks?
How do you deal with conflict?
What is the onboarding process like at Northside Hospital and how long does it last?
It is mostly online and at your pace and hard to get questions answered. HR online is where most the larger corporations are going and it would be ok but they usually refer to back to a place you have already checked with and never really get a response for you.
What is the PTO policy at Northside Hospital?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
The PTO is average. It’s a little over two weeks a year but it gets eaten up quickly with being placed on RAD so often. So you really don’t get a vacation paid after it’s all used up due to their scheduling issues.
How are the healthcare options at Northside Hospital?
The healthcare options are poor.
What kind of activities do employees at Northside Hospital participate in outside of work?
March of Dimes. Quite a few.
What makes you the most proud about working at Northside Hospital?
I like working for a company that gives back to the community.
What is the company mobility like at Northside Hospital?
The mobility is good!
What kind of relocation or moving stipends does Northside Hospital offer?
Not enough to move. I was offered 5k. Covered moving trucks. It was a process and took months to receive it after being hired.
How are the dental insurance options at Northside Hospital?
The same here. Very small group of good dentist in Network.
How are the vision insurance options at Northside Hospital?
The vision option is limited to a small variety of good optometrist.
What is the best perk or benefit that Northside Hospital offers?
I suppose the pension plan. It isn’t much and it really designed for someone being there for an entire career. In the past hospitals have given bonus’s based on revenue once or twice a year and held town hall meeting where the CEO and management serve a breakfast and hand out bonuses especially prior to the holidays. I haven’t seen a bonus yet. I haven’t even seen or met the CEO of Cherokee. The benefits are very poor and way too costly.
What do you wish you knew before starting at Northside Hospital?
That management does not have your back. They encourage incident reports and then when you file one you are looked down on. I would also have liked to know that they do not encourage their departments to work together and the doctors buy and treat L&D and SCN but leave the FCC staff out the majority of the time. No team work.
How hard is it to get promoted at Northside Hospital?
Extremely hard. Cherokee I would say is very much who you know and not what you know.
What is the dress code at Northside Hospital?
It is appropriate but not consistent in management following through. Tattoos are all over the place and very unprofessional. L&D and SCN have their own perks while FCC is held to a higher standard. No consistency at Cherokee.
How often do employees get raises at Northside Hospital?
Not consistent and you never know what to expect.
What is Northside Hospital's internship program like?
I don’t know about all of NSH but Cherokee has nurses that have never been trained to precept and nurses who have only been off orientation themselves for a very short time. Retention is low.
How can I get hired at Northside Hospital as a recent grad?
Residency programs are in abundance. Not hard at all.
What kind of people does Northside Hospital like to hire?
I have never experienced so many employees with FMLA. While it is good for some employees, it is abused in my opinion. It’s really hard when you are relying on your co-workers and 4 of 8 can call out at any given time.
How flexible is your work schedule at Northside Hospital?
The work schedule is not flexible at all. They allow self scheduling but then change the schedule to meet their needs without asking.
