I'm paid fairly for what I do, and it's nice to have equity - in this space, that might be worth something, unlike many other startups.
Mature, seasoned leaders who know what they are doing. They have a shared passion for the mission of serving smaller businesses. Highly functional team, all of whom are very accessible and authentic.
The opportunity to roll up my sleeves and make a difference. It's a very collaborative, non hierarchical environment, so that is great. Very little bureaucracy. Employees are empowered to make a difference. Fairly diverse and very tolerant culture.
Everyone there is excited about continuing to finish the turnaround. The business model changed drastically a couple of years ago, so it's a complete reboot - it's a lot of build and rebuild to right all the previous wrongs. I find that challenging and fun.
I had the opportunity to meet with a variety of stakeholders, which gave me a chance to get to know the company - to interview them - as well as allowing them to get to know me. I felt like I knew what the work would be like based on the transparency of the interviewers.
My team are all crazy smart, passionate, and committed to doing the right thing. They work hard - some of them too hard - because as in any startup, there's more to do than hours in a day. They love to have fun and we do a lot of things together - lunches, outings, wine Wednesdays, etc.
