
From what I have witnessed, decisions regarding promotions are mostly based on if your current manager likes you or not. Most people have to transfer to a different Boeing job to be promoted because there is a no in place promotion rule in effect from what I have been told.
This is a sore issue and the overall process is not good. Each manager can provide input for individuals that they think should be promoted however the pool is typically small
Magic 8 ball apparently... We have managers and senior managers who are clueless and would have been fired 100 times over anywhere else.
The promotion process is weak, Boeing has been losing good young talent because it is so hard to promote.
Promotions process needs some work, we are losing too much talent because we can’t promote.
