    If you are sales or BD, it's pretty much revenue driven, even when it doesn't make sense. If you are marketing, it's how much you've promoted yourself. So marketing people are usually the first ones to blast the whole executive team about their accomplishments, under the disguise of recaps or team appreciation notes . If you are product / engineering, its how big your project is not how impactful it is.

    annual review, 5% allocated per employee per team (for all raises & promotions), your manager allocates that percentage out across your team
