Most seem to think reasonably highly of her. I think most would agree that she's a better than average fortune500 CEO. She has created a more clear vision for the company than we've had for a while. And she's better than some with sharing regular updates on what IBM high level priorities are and what is happening across different areas of the company. However, she and the rest of the board defer way too much to Finance. Finance has way too much power and control in this company. As a result, they tend to run the company and invest like IBM is an old line industrial company - focused way too much on profit, and not enough on revenue growth. Exact opposite approach that Amazon and even the new Microsoft are taking. So while Ginni is a better than average Fortune 500 CEO, she's probably not a top tech CEO.
I'm a fan. She is a strong leader, brilliant in business and technology. She has a vision for cultural and business transformation that I can see in action all around me. The most important quality, though, is that she stands for the values of IBM - diversity, the freedom to be who you are. She took IBM to the mat in Texas in opposition to the transgender bathroom bill. She led the charge to disband the Trump's business council (rather than just leaving it). I'm proud to work for her. Oh - and she's a women in tech top leader. Yes!
She needs to 1. Stop the self-interest behavior (obsessed with her own salary and bonus, being wedged into the White House, etc.) 2. Stop obsessing over the stock price. 3. Start doing as she says - oh, the hypocrisy! To improve: Put the employees first, value them, treat them with respect, pay top dollar, bring back full benefits - the rest will take care of itself. With motivated, happy employees, IBM would be back on top, and the big clients probably wouldn't be suing them from every direction!
She is the worse CEO. Declining revenues, moral, workforce, shoddy management practices, the majority of management is only looking out for themselves and quick to throw people under the boss. What do they do well.... nothing they only good things left here are the few great people that are still left but for how long?
My perspective is that the CEO doesn't really have a clear direction herself. While IBM touts "cognitive computing", they don't seem to be innovating in that particular area. In addition, IBM is playing catch up relative to the cloud and falling more and more behind.
Stop the bi-annual proactive layoffs - people are getting fired for 1 year of poor performance, no matter what their previous sales records were. There is a culture of fear in IBM and it is debilitating.....sad, because the culture is what made IBM great....
The CEO needs to go - we need new leadership that knows how to execute a singular vision and operational strategy. IBM is too busy re-orging and getting in its own way, instead of actually get anything accomplished.
Mixed bag. Highly polarizing. Held responsible for poor stock performance and highly unpopular decisions on product lines, staffing, technology investments. On the flip side - she is reasonably accessible for both customers and employees.
Its a big firm, so there are many layers to the leadership levels unless you're a band 10 or higher you don't really have much of a voice
She's very smart and has taken a bit longer than most expected for the shift to the strategic imperatives but it looks to finally be paying off
IBMers are infuriated that Ginni Rommety received her largest bonus ever, after 5 straight quarters of losses. Very, very few have any respect for her.
Only here for herself. No vision. No interest in people. Only stock price is of concern
the CEO gets a giant bonus and lays off 10,000 employees to get it. Take a guess.
She does not listen to anyone. Every quarter there are massive layoffs, which makes everyone uneasy.
A horrible person, only cares about herself and the higher ups and republicans.
Only concerned about stock price Does have good presence and vision
Some like her, others despise her
Very supportive
