Varies by country, but in the US everyone gets 15 days paid time off for the first 5 years. In addition everyone in the US also gets 6 "personal choice holidays" which are in addition to the national paid holidays like labor day, memorial day, thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. They are meant to give people the flexibility to celebrate unique culural or religious holidays without having to use their regular vacation. Some sites may also mandate some specific uses of a couple personal choice holidays, like designating the friday after thanksgiving as a site-wide personal choice holiday. So one of your days would automatically be used for that.
IBM has a very good vacation policy starting with 3 weeks plus 11 Holidays. Some of those holidays are called "Personal Choice Holidays" thus you can take them at any time during the year in effect giving you 4 weeks of vacation from the start.
Formal vacation policy is standard, based on years of service. Informally - great amount of flexibility with management approval. Also good policies for reasonable and needed personal time that does not impinge on vacation allotment.
Pretty good. You get 15 vacation days and then depending on your site, you get locally designated days off as well as some personal choice holidays (typically around 3).
It depends on the locality (country). In Brazil the policy follows the legislation, with the benefit that you can anticipate in 6 months your holiday period provided by law.
You are worked to death and on call constantly while on vacation. I would say this is the worst company I ever worked for.
Most groups are flexible depending on your manager. I.e. no set number, just get your work done and bases covered
Never enough. Plus you have to worry about utilization... You end up working extra hours to earn vacation.
2 weeks for up to 5 years of service, then 3 weeks up to 25 years service
In US mostly 15 days until your 10th year... then 5 more days
Weak. 2 weeks for 10 years employment, and one additional year after 15
10 personal days a year, + 7 sick days. decent, average, unimpressive, median.
fairly liberal compared to others, 2 week to 4 week depending on tenure.
decent. 3 weeks at the gate.
