personally, i think that additional structure can be helpful. As a startup, I understand we are still finding out what works, though.
The compensation package is fairly plain, and doesn't really stand out. However, for me, it gets the basics done - a salary plus medical.
thus far, they have been open via the all hands and other meetings. It is probably a positive take on things, but it helps to know.
