Mr. Thomas A. Whitaker, also known as Tom, has been Senior Vice President of Cable at Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. since January 20, 2017. Mr. Whitaker has 27 years of experience. He served as Senior Vice President of Operations at Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. from September 2015 to January 20, 2017. He served as Vice President of Network Operations at Broadslate Networks. Mr. Whitaker's telecommunications experience began in 1984 working for Henkels and McCoy installing fiber optic cable along railroad right-of-ways for Sprint Communications. He served as Vice President of Cable at Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. since August 2013. He served as Vice President of Operations at Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. until August 2013. He joined Shentel in 2004 through the Shentel acquisition of NTC Communications. He is responsible for the ongoing operations and maintenance of Shentel's Cable, Wireline and Wireless Operations. He served as Chief Operating Officer of NTC Communications, LLC. He supports the Network Operations Center and Data Operations groups for Shentel. From 1984 to 1989, he served on fiber optic projects throughout the U.S., installing over 100 regeneration and point-of-presence facilities. In 1989, he co-founded Nat-Com, Inc. in Valley Forge, PA. As Vice President of Nat-Com, he was responsible for the development of over 700 cellular transmission sites for major cellular service providers and in 1994, developed the first PCS sites in the nation for APC in Washington, DC. In 1996, he joined N-telos of Waynesboro, VA as Director of Wireless Operations and was responsible for the development of their digital wireless network. In 1999, he joined Broadslate Networks of Charlottesville, VA as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Whitaker is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV.
