Mr. Paul F. Lizzul, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., FAAD has been Chief Medical Officer at Sienna Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. since January 2016. Dr. Lizzul has been Medical Director at Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. since August 2012. Dr. Lizzul has a broad depth of knowledge and experience in both clinical and bench research and medical practice. He served as Senior Medical Director, Head of Safety at Sienna Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. and program lead for setipiprant (PGD2 inhibitor for AGA) at Kythera from August 2012 until it was acquired by Allergan in October 2015. Dr. Lizzul has authored articles in academic journals on topics including inflammation, psoriasis, aesthetics (Kybella) and health care reform. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and a faculty member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). He holds leadership positions within the national dermatology community and also held the distinction of serving on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Dermatology and Ophthalmic Drugs Advisory Committee. Prior to joining KYTHERA, Dr. Lizzul served as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Associate Director of Clinical Research at Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Lizzul is a volunteer member of the teaching faculty in the Department of Dermatology at University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. Dr. Lizzul completed post-graduate medical internship at Greenwich Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine and his dermatology residency at the University of California. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received his M.D., Ph.D. degrees in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and M.P.H. in Epidemiology/Outcomes from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Lizzul holds M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship from the Rutgers Business School and is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including appointment to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) academic leadership program, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) mentorship award, the Dr. Alan Scott Research Award from the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery (ASCDAS), a Gallo award for outstanding Cancer Research and recipient of NIH training grants.
