  • Terrible mobility. You are set into a role and you perform that role. Promotions are few and far between as you have no way to really demonstrate increased responsibility, take on new roles or responsibilities. You just hope you’re on the good side of your manager. Can be a senior engineer after a year of graduating, could have 10 years of experience and be a staff engineer. Little transparency in the position structure with the engineering staff.

  • Excellent intern program. Good supervisors, interesting and meaningful projects that directly support project mission. Usually a fairly large group of interns with sanctioned outings outside of work such as go carts, hiking, etc. as well as plenty of non-sanctioned fun with the group.
