E.W. Scripps – Biggest decline I've ever seen in a company. When I started there in 2019 Scripps was a company I loved and would try to recruit friends to. In the last 2 two years (beginning 2022) it's become a culture of fear and loathing in the newsroom. Dishonest, disrespectful, bait & switch style leadership | Comparably

What did you like most about the interview process?

With the exception of new HR system (at the time) causing some hiccups, interview process was smooth and easy. This was back in 2019 though.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Lose leadership at corporate and station level. Turn the ship around. Emphasize newsroom stability and sustainability at the expense of C-Level and mgmt salaries instead of gutting them for a cheap and lesser product that viewers DON'T like. Return to honesty and transparency.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

What's the culture of a sinking ship where the captain tells you everything is ok? What's the culture of that meme of a dog drinking coffee while everything is on fire around him? It's fear for your livelihood. It's manipulation to take it "for the team". There are no more positives in its culture
