Working at Pollo Tropical has been an unpleasant and rough experience for me. Out of all the places that I have worked I have never been treated with less respect and dignity. In addition to receiving verbal abuse from co-workers, my bosses refused to give me sick days even when I had an emergency.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Communication! Kindness, compassion, empathy and friendliness. A certain coworker of mine is very degrading and rude to me...with proper education about empathy and mental health this could change.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Leadership in my area is very unprofessional uncaring and unreasonable. I have witnessed my manager being screamed at by higher ups. They also told me "you just need to work you cant miss it or your fired" when I became homeless and my mental health was deteriorating quickly. Such lack of compassion
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I work full time at pollo tropical and I have another job and somehow I still am unable to support myself...while everyone at corporate levels are paid more. Us, the ones who work on the front lines, are paid the least. Literally, we aren't paid enough to deal with what we see every day.
