Came to work at WU highly motivated and with the best of intentions, only to find that the atmosphere is on my team is unprofessional, excessive, and the line manager inadequately experienced in dealing with people different from themself. Atmosphere is half corporate, half cult. Not recommended.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
It's better than average compensation.
What makes you most happy at work?
Sad to say, logging off. Other than that, days when there is genuine connection with colleagues and enough work to do that you have a sense of accomplishment.
What did you like most about the interview process?
It was quick. Unfortunately, the background checks were extensive and took much longer leaving you on tenterhooks the whole time. Also the onboarding was unprofessional with various mistakes made by the organisation.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The window dressing is constant, effusive positivity and celebration of achievement. Some people are idealistic enough to feel they are genuinely making a difference -- most odd for an ultra-capitalist financial services company.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
The leadership team sugar coats things and offers constant hyperbolic praise for achievements, but their words are at odds with the nature of the underlying organisation, which is sclerotic, siloed and defensive. It's all so much rhetoric and window dressing. It's a business looking out for itself.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
My team is a feelings-only environment where you walk on eggshells around everybody. Each person thinks that they are the most emotionally sensitive and hence superior team person, and looks down on colleagues who are more interested in their actual work and making profit for the business.
