How's the morale at Fastenal?
No morale at all
There is no morale. If you are hired on, you will make more than the workers who have been there for years.

What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Fastenal?
Sortation isn't given raises at all.
How secure do you feel at your job at Fastenal?
I do not feel secure because while I am praised for productivity and work over my scheduled time, I have not been given a single raise. Temps hired into my same department are paid more.
What's the vibe like in the Operations dept at Fastenal? How many hours are you working?
It is stressful. Other units leave on time even if they aren't finished. Meanwhile, sortation must stay well over hours and threatened with the loss of our jobs if we do not stay.
How's the work pace at Fastenal?
The work pace is demanding. Loads are allowed to pile up and get backed up while workers are to hit productivity while fixing issues caused by others.
What does the ideal candidate in the IT department look like at Fastenal?
Someone with strong work ethic, that can learn and pivot on the fly! Need to come in with a strong base as you will need to hit the ground running! There training is not real strong.
How flexible is your work schedule at Fastenal?
It can vary greatly. By your manager/director and what your job is. I teach at a university as well and they have made accommodations to fit my schedule. I have a lot of tasks to do and can do some remotely after hours to make up any time I miss. But depending on your position and project business needs may dictate needing you here all the time. My experience is the staff does all it can to accommodate, but developers may not have any flexibility, BA and project managers have a little more flexibility as there work is more portable. But again the project or system may dictate a more stringent schedule.

All on the same team and we celebrate our wins...which are numerous every week.
