Defining "leadership team" is a major hindrance to answering this appropriately. Several individual members with Director titles and above have been very willing to explain situations and have discussions; in general, these particular individuals have been very approachable.
Projects. The daily task is just that, the daily task; in a world where many of us want to learn and grow, projects allow us to stretch our minds, interact with new people, and drive some actual change.
My role is cross functional; my direct team is great to work with. When I look at having to work with operations, where every aspect of their lives is extremely micromanaged, it becomes very difficult to have a conversation let alone drive to conclusion a change, concern, or daily task.
I verified how much people made in a similar role at mine and other sites and made the request to be brought to that level. As I have not been brought up to that level, knowing direct reports make as much as I do, and having the discussion directly, I am still currently underpaid.
Most of the persons I interact with are doing their best to keep up with the extremely fast pace. The fact that we genuinely reach out to each other to ask how each other are doing, not for some HR kudos, etc., is very positive... the fact that we need to do that is not.
