  • opportunity

  • More money or better working conditions anywhere else.

  • Damn near anything. I know the way they treat contingents , I have only a limited lifespan here and had better keep my resume sharpened and on the ready 24/7/365 . If you are a contingent and work here and get an offer from anywhere else and don't take it - If Honda finds out they will get rid of you as not being good enough for them.

  • I am an associate and I don't feel secure at all.

  • Not at all. As a contractor you know almost immediatly that you have no security and that you are disosable and will be disposed of as soon as they feel a desire to brush the blame off on someone disposable.

  • on a scale of 1 to 10 . Security as an associate = 10 unless you kill someone on site and as a contingent on the same scale = 0.025 . I know what the marysville Honda R&D culture is and always has been since the 80's.

  • 2 precursory interviews followed by a general HR interview and final placement ; if the manager already knows you or you are related to another manager that the hiring manager wants to impress.

  • Rigorous. You are expected to know your stuff and be exceptional at your field.

  • they love him. He's a good guy.

  • They like him. Generally he is in a class of his own. Very approachable and treats everyone with respect and friendly familiarity. A humble man that knows what he wants and is not at all pushy or arrogant.

  • The C level staff is awesome and they treat everyone with respect unfortunatly middle managers and below don't keep up the philosophy. Contractors and contingent staff are treated as indentured servants and disposed of like fodder at a fire sale.

  • Your interview to be hired full time at honda is not your typical interview. They review your background check, job history and that is all. They will call you if your background is clean and offer you a job over the phone. Its a rather quick process. Now once your working for honda and want to move up, those interview questions are a little bit more traditional.

  • Cash. Their checks never bounce.

  • Free Parking - For all. Contingents - they must pay for the mandatory Thanksgiving dinner . While associates eat free. Three employee levels- Associates get benefits, Contingents get the middle no benefits but recognized and allowed to walk freely. Then the lowest level of employee is the teathered temporary who knows they are only allowed to be there for 2 weeks and is sequestered all day long.

  • Honda is a household brand and despite the awefully stressful working conditions it will be around for a long time.

  • Most people that have been on the inside are amazed that it has survived as long as it has and that they make such high quality products as it does. The culture is opposite of the brand. If they actually cared for the non-associate workers , they could make 2x the car for 1/2 the price and give people a future.

  • The psychological conditions of working in an environment where I was considered disposable at all times.

  • You know your technology and are expected to be an expert in it. You are not allowed to grow or expect to be anywhere in 5 years other than where you are. You know your technology and that is where you will stay. If they change your technology then you also will be removed for the new outside trainged expert. No internal training and no internal promotion. Unless you are in the executive rotation program. All others die in the role they started in.

  • generous to associates. Non-existent for contractors. Associates get from 3 weeks to a month from the start. Contractors are treated like garbage. You don't work you don't eat and regardless of hours if your timesheet reflects and OT ; you might as well sharpen your resume. You should expect to always be on the chopping block whenever the associates whim suites their fancy to make an example of the contractor that was honest about their hours or a hidden issue. Like oh can anyone say AIRBAGS that will kill someone. Don't bring it up to me so I can say "I never knew about that issue !" fastest way to get let go as a contractor.

  • If you are a consultant then it is Zero. They have 2 weeks of shut down per year and those are when you must take your time off. If you are an associate then it is very lucrative and averages about 4 weeks per year plus.
