In the technology department, every person with "Director" in their title should be fired.

The company keeps hiring/promoting incompetent Directors to manage teams in the technology department. These Directors are free to cause whatever mayhem they wish without being held accountable. The company takes action against said directors only when it is far too late. Additionally, the business model is broken. It is unfathomable that the company originates tens of thousands of loans a year with astronomical interest rates, and yet the company is unable to generate a profit. The way it can be improved is by creating a culture where managers are kept in check by employees.

It needs to get better at actually using employee feedback in its decision making. Time after time, managers will offer a "comment period" after some big change, such as reogranization. Concerns are stated by employees, but no action is taken. It's really and empty exercise trying to talk to any manager now. It should also get better at not stabbing its employees in the back and engaging in blatant favoritism.

  • Re-evaluate their employee work experience. Some have no idea about what their role requires and do not have the experience for it.

While we believe in continuous, ongoing feedback throughout the year, our performance process is currently every six months. This includes a self evaluation, receiving feedback from your manager, colleagues and direct reports, and setting goals.

  • It is slow and not impartial.

We just refreshed our company values earlier this year and have assembled a Values team to help us define aspirational behaviors that will bring these values to life and help us have the culture we want and need to achieve our business objectives.

  • Reduce the number of managers we have and make the organization more flat. The leaders are getting in the way of getting things done.

If the highest raking leadership likes you, you get a promotion every year, if not, twice a year. If they don't like you, you will hear lame excuses as to why you didn't get promoted.

  • The CEO is a nice guy and down to earth and probably very smart. The only thing is, he overdoes it with the hope stuff. Every company town hall we have, I'm always aware that he's trying to sell us on the great future of the company. I know what the reality on the ground is, and I just can't help but feel like he's fibbing to us everytime he steps on the stage.

The company culture used to be energetic and fun, yet laid back at the same time. People work hard but within reasonable limits. There used to be plenty of company and team outings to celebrate achievements and milestones. Now the culture is very depressing and gloomy. People don't have much hope for the company and are struggling to find reasons to come back to work every day.
