Every year my company becomes smaller. Another building is sold, another activity is outsourced, another high wage job is removed. I was hired at the BMW of Test and Measurement products. I now work for the Burger King of Test and Measurement. We have jobs here, not careers.

My immediate coworkers maintain a culture of kindness and camaraderie. We stubbornly continue with celebrations of one another, seasons and team victories.

My direct line manager is focused on making the team successful and improving all things we touch. She encourages learning and advancement from within the team. She also encourages us to mentor others to success.

Benefits are shopped each year to the lowest bidder. No assistance from the company to navigate the benefits obstacle course. Only L1 is compensated well. All other groups fight for 1% increases. Even office supplies are hard to come by (many people bring from home).

My team works hard to enable one another's success. We pull together to ensure everyone can learn, advance, balance work with family life and innovate to fix what we can. The kind of people who buy out of pocket and bring snacks to upper management's mandatory 4 hours meetings.
