The majority of SBA leadership ascended over 15 years ago and have become institutionalized, refusing to give way or to provide opportunities to up-and-coming leaders.

I work in the venture capital and private equity program (the SBIC program) ; the federal pay scale is well below the industry standard for comparable work and responsibility.

My specific team is woefully understaffed (2 current employees on a team with 4 designated positions). Lack of opportunities limit recruitment to end-of-career candidates or to marginal performers from other offices/companies.
