NVA does provides little to no training for preserving mental health and preventing compassion fatigue to regional management or management within the hospitals. Having worked for other corporations, there is a visable lack of training with NVA. Given the known risks of this job it is shocking.

Lack of training of management. Techs and veterinarians are thrown into management positions without training. NVA has an opportunity to create training to support management and hospital staff but it does not seem to be a priority

Adoption of certain standards across hospitals where policies and supports are in place to take care of the mental health of team members as well as boundaries for what is considered inappropriate client behavior and how to address them.

Creating a supportive work environment and educating all levels of the corporation (national leadership, regional leadership, local leadership and staff) on how to maintain mental health and prevent compassion fatigue. Including setting and respecting reasonable boundaries with clients & coworkers

For Veterinarians there is no paid time off. You can take time off but future earning are essentially docked by there pay structure. Disability insurance should be covered and there should be paid medical leave/personal days that are actually PAID not a deduction from future earnings.
