
The answer depends on what kind of team you work for. The company is too big to have a single event per site, so I think teams celebrate individually. My team is scattered geographically, so we don't get a change to hang out like that. In my location, the company arranged for employees to visit the local zoo on one of several "employee only" evenings during holiday time. Families were welcome at this event. It was all very low-key. No pressure to attend, no forced karaoke, etc.
The Christmas parties are organized by department. The company allots a certain amount of money to a department depending upon the number of employees. Very nice parties.
No holiday party. You get two drink coupons and some appetizers- if you are lucky! They don’t get you a pizza lunch... cheap, cheap,cheap !
