
"Options" for an IPO that was going to happen "any month now" were used during negotiations to lower salaries. Months turned to years; shares are still being sold as an alternative to retirement / 401k shares, but it looks like IPO may never happen. Aside from that, it's a good place to work. It's full of very smart people.
I was told that IPO was imminent, within 2-3 months, and options were used to negotiate a lower salary and offered instead of any 401k matching at all. Years later, it seems that IPO may never happen.
