In response to the insanely inept answer given about our maternity leave being discriminatory... how about instead of attacking the maternity policy you opt to fight for 100% on ALL STD. Rather than have a vendetta against a brand new mother maybe you can recognize that maternity leave isn’t about just the mother. Offering mothers 100% of pay ensures they stay home for the first 10 weeks of the babies life while they grow and bond and heal together. If you don’t find value in that please get in a time machine. No new mother is going to say those people with chronic illness don’t deserve 100% so don’t go after the mothers! Maternity is a choice, just like smoking and getting lung cancer, eating poorly and getting a heart condition, doing tasks that are hard on your body regardless of if it’s your job, a lot of “disability” Could be led back to a choice (though OBVIOUSLY it’s not all a choice) lets not waste time pointing fingers at who is more disabled and fight for equality instead
New policy regarding maternity leave now getting 10 weeks at 100% is just wrong!!! Pregnancy is not a disability and should be treated just like everyone else who goes out on STD.....I feel this is discriminatory because those employees with very serious health conditions are cut to 70%. The cancer, heart conditions, hip, back, knee and neck surgery are truly disabled and they are the ones who need to $$ to help pay all of their medical bills. Our STD policy is now discriminating against the truly ill employees. In order to get 10 weeks of full pay we all need to have babies!!!
