It depends......Delta in Below Wing ACS, at ATL, as a man of color with no relations in the airline, require you to go beyond the norm. You have to do something mind blowing to move forward. Simply working hard and being able to do everything, as well as showing interest to move forward is not enough. It has a culture of Nepotism. It has a culture of Cronyism.
