Both parents are entitled to parental leave. There may be special rules if both parents work for the company. Mom may end up with more time off due to medical leave for necessary physical recovery but that's different than parental leave. There was no such thing when I was having kids so 6 weeks medical was the usual time the doctor gave when mom was recovering normally and then you're back to work. Also, medical leave wasn't available for handling health issues with the new baby. We had to juggle surgeries and complications with infants and attempt to work. We couldn't use a sick day to care for a sick child, you were expected to have backup. Who wants to come babysit only on days a kid is sick? So of course most parents lied about being sick out of necessity. I'm so happy these policies have changed even though I'm jealous.
