Lots of wasted time. The major "filters" are applied during the first (resume) and final (roleplay) stages of the application process only. It's pretty rare that someone isn't pushed forward in the multiple phone call, in-person interviews stages.

I'm a hiring manager and to be honest we want people who aren't a fit to talk to their friends about how the experience is great. Everything else stems from that.
