I liked the feedback and encouragement from my interviewer during my mock session.
I like receiving the monthly newsletters from Tutor.com and see how select tutors gain some appreciation. The culture is heavily review-based, which can be stressful for me at times, as I need to determine whether or not to follow company guidelines or help out a student beyond their expectations.
I feel undervalued because my mentors stopped contacting me about two months ago after I reached out to them about a possible promotion. It bothers me that students are charged four times the amount tutors get paid. I'd feel better knowing students were charged less and my mentors were consistent.
A lot is expected from me when my compensation is too low. It's difficult when students take corrections personally and then give me a lower rating. The company is heavily catered to students, and there's not enough appreciation to share with all of us except for the lucky few who get the spotlight.
I haven't heard anything from my mentors for over two months. I honestly don't feel like an integral member of Tutor.com and that they are taking advantage of my abilities by paying me so little. What is worst is that students are charged four times the amount I get paid, which makes no sense to me.
We have no way of initiating contact with other tutors besides our mentors, which can get really isolating for me. I wish we had a way of communicating so that we could interchange tips and overall raise moral. I sometimes log in as a student to see how the other tutors fare and learn from them.
