What do you like best about the leadership team?

Leadership Reviews

They are helpful. They provide resources.

They are very helpful and knowledgable

Good support system with regular assessments.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Everyone is very supportive. I get a lot of great feedback that helps me grow in my profession.

Review from Customer Support Dept

They are not invasive. They let you work according to your own schedule and only contact you when necessary.

Review from Customer Support Dept

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Leadership Reviews

There is no team, just self work

They need to open their minds and embrace the 21st century. Focus on compensating tutors fairly and improving the technological platform.

listening to the needs of its employees

Follow labor laws. Stop retaliation and discrimination.

I haven't heard anything from my mentors for over two months. I honestly don't feel like an integral member of Tutor.com and that they are taking advantage of my abilities by paying me so little. What is worst is that students are charged four times the amount I get paid, which makes no sense to me.

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Compensation Reviews

It's not a specific schedule. It's flexible.

There are no benefits as a part time employee, but I think the rate is competitive since we work at home and really have no costs like commuting and meals.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

I've noticed something about jobs... The lower paying a job is, the more that's expected. Working as a tutor for Tutor.com is a contracted position. Tutors are not direct employees. $10 per hour turns into maybe $7 after taxes. That is extremely low pay. Extremely low for educated people.

Review from Customer Support Dept

fair pay would go a long way

They are ableist and break labor laws

Pay is very low for having a degree.

Review from Customer Support Dept

It's hard to qualify for benefits

What are some of the best things about your team?

Team Reviews

There is nothing good since it is just my manager.

I like the ability to work remote

Review from Customer Support Dept

The other tutors are great and don't deserve this.

Receptive to suggestions for improvement

Review from Customer Support Dept

Everything is online. Everything is easily accessible, and we get timely responses.

Review from Customer Support Dept

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Team Reviews

I didn't have co workers other then the mentors.

There are no meetings we don't meet anyone face to face. They don't even use Zoom meetings. Sometimes I imagine my quality specialist is a bot

Tutor.com is a tutoring service that is offered online, over the computer. There is no interaction really with others who work with Tutor.com. The only person you might interact with is your mentor. This is the person who essentially evaluates the quality of your tutoring.

Review from Customer Support Dept

This is really an N/A as tutors are independent contractors and virtually never interact or work together.

no contact with coworkers whatsoever

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Environment Reviews

Students are very thankful for the service.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Everyone is here to help students.

The students often provide fulfilling experiences.

Freedom to choose your own hours, though they will be scant.

Lots of positive feedback and resources.

What did you like most about the interview process?

Interviews Reviews

They did a pretty good job interviewing looking for ability

The interview was great. I don't have any complaints about the interview process. To me, the more difficult part begins after you are hired. Once hired, you have only 30 days to begin online tutoring. Where is the training? Any "training" is unpaid and on your own.

Review from Customer Support Dept

It was very much like a real session with a student.

All done remote and based on knowledge.

Review from Customer Support Dept

It was challenging but allowed me to see if this was a good fit.

Review from Customer Support Dept

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

Interviews Reviews

Get rid of tests and recordings. If you don't trust your people to do their job, the problem is you.

What makes you most happy at work?

Outlook Reviews

I enjoy helping students learn.

Helping others and working from home.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Helping students learn and grow

Being able to help the students

Review from Customer Support Dept

I like interacting with my students and being able to boost their confidence.

Review from Customer Support Dept

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Outlook Reviews

Management hoards profit at the top (the fancy decorative peaks of the building) and exploits labor at the bottom (the foundation, that is). They have managed this model for a long time and have held the market almost exclusively, so the fall will be slow, but they will change or be gone.

Use a business model that would support long lasting and quality employees

again, labor law violations and constant undue criticisism

A lot is expected from me when my compensation is too low. It's difficult when students take corrections personally and then give me a lower rating. The company is heavily catered to students, and there's not enough appreciation to share with all of us except for the lucky few who get the spotlight.
