Work-life balance, as a whole in the U.S. is not great. It is what you make of it though. Productivity and overall quality of life would be better if employees of all levels had the ability to take more time off and travel/experience life outside of the workplace.
There is flexibility if you claim it. Many teams are work from home, which is a great perk. Our team has core hours and most everyone is on-site.
You need to be firm - the work/life balance is what you allow it to be.
