Best Companies for Career Growth 2024

According to Millions of Employee Ratings

On the heels of the recently-released May 2024 U.S. Bureau of Labor Stats report (272,000 non-farm jobs added, despite the slight rise in unemployment to 4%), Comparably (now a ZoomInfo company) unveiled its 7th annual list of Best Companies for Career Growth.

Based solely on anonymous feedback and ratings from current employees at tens of thousands of companies over the past year, workers were asked a variety of questions related to professional development opportunities given by their employers.

According to a Comparably.com report, approximately half of all employees surveyed said their companies are not invested in their career growth, making this annual list an important one for new graduates and Gen Z job seekers who want to know where they can best build their careers.

Segmented by large and SMB companies, the Top 25 in each size bucket are listed below, followed by detailed methodology. The complete list of Top 100 winners, including company rank, location, and industry, is available here

Methodology

Comparably’s 7th annual list of Best Companies for Career Growth is based solely on ratings provided by current employees who anonymously rated their professional development opportunities on Comparably.com over a 12-month period (May 13, 2023 through May 13, 2024). Sample questions include:

o Are you challenged at work?
o How often do you get valuable feedback on how to improve at work?
o Do you have a mentor at work?
o How often do you receive valuable feedback from your manager?
o Does your current company provide meaningful opportunities for career advancement?Questions were asked in a variety of data-driven formats (True/False, Yes/No, 1-10 scale, multiple choice). The answer to each question was then given a numerical score and compared to companies of similar size.

There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required. The final data set was compiled from 20 million ratings across 70,000 U.S. and Canadian companies.

To qualify, Large companies (more than 500 employees) must have met a minimum of 75 employee participants and Small/Mid-Size companies (500 employees or less) needed a minimum of 25 employee participants. For fairness and statistical significance, additional weight was given to companies with more participation from their employee base.
