Best Companies in Seattle 2018

Company culture is everything these days. From retail to health care to tech, companies in every sector are going to great lengths to ensure that their mission, vision and values are expressed in every aspect of their business. There’s good reason for this: company culture is now the No. 1 reason people choose one job over another; just five years ago, the No. 1 reason was salary and benefits, according to research by executive search firm Korn Ferry.

The list below highlights companies in Seattle that received the highest ratings from employees on Comparably for their overall culture.

What employees anonymously said about their company culture:

Zillow: “Zillow is an amazing company to work for with an excellent workplace culture. Most empowering employer of my career. We live by our core values and it brings the best out of us”

Microsoft: “Lots of autonomy and accountability. Best culture I’ve ever worked in. They are leading the charge in changing our culture; they’ve stopped chasing the competition and started leading.”

Starbucks: “I love the company, my customers, the environment, and the benefits. The company makes effective changes when problems arise and deals with customers and employees in an inclusive way. I like their focus to attempt to bring about social awareness and change in today’s divisiveness in the workplace, culture and society. And they listen. After the issue with two Black men being unjustly removed by police sent by the Starbucks manager, the leadership team took it very seriously. I’m proud to work with them based on their response.

Costco: “We actually live by our motto. We live to satisfy our members and our environment shows that. Costco always shows love for their employees so it makes everything at work better. Everyone is positive, the pay and benefits are better than any other retailer, and leaders treat everyone like human beings and not machines doing a job.”

Amazon: “We have the freedom to innovate and take ownership. The environment is fun, friendly, and innovative. We work hard, but we don’t forget to have fun.”
