Best Department Awards 2019

What are the best individual work departments in the U.S.? Comparably has published its annual Best Department Awards 2019, which breaks down the 25 best-rated departments as voted on by employees in four categories: Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Design.

Comparably’s mission is to make work transparent and rewarding for employees and employers. These lists are meant to highlight the leaders and businesses who are helping to drive positive culture change across companies large and small.

Methodology
Comparably’s Best Departments are derived from sentiment ratings provided by employees nationwide  from the respective departments who anonymously rated those departments on Comparably.com between March 8, 2018 and March 8, 2019. There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required.

Winners were determined based on a series of 50+ structured and comprehensive workplace questions in core culture categories, including: Compensation, Leadership, Professional Development, Work-Life Balance, Perks & Benefits, to name a few (in Yes/No, True/False, 1-10 scale, and multiple choice formats). The answer to each question was given a numerical score and then compared to companies of similar size across the U.S. Additional weight was given to scores at companies with more participation from their employee base.
