We offer L&D opportunities for all levels of employees, making sure the courses have a clear structure that allows them to build on each other. For managers, we have specialized DiSC training on how to better direct and delegate their teams. Please describe a few of your professional development programs.

Many positions in the bank have curriculum inside our Learning Management System that provide teammates opportunities for developing professionally. Additionally, we have a plethora of professional development courses available inside the Learning Management System that are easily searchable and can be accessed by all employees.

All employees are invited to participate in the DEI Community calls, which happen bi-weekly, and these calls regularly provide opportunities for development. Additionally, our Employee Resource Groups all provide their members with regular opportunities for professional development.

We also offer a Career Growth Plan to all our teammates. This is a tactical way for employees to identify their short- and long-term goals, and to collaborate with their manager to build their own professional development path.

How can a company offer meaningful professional development opportunities to its employees while preserving/improving retention rates?

The Career Growth Plan demonstrates our commitment to helping our employees develop. It is also often a great tool for managers to support their employees’ growth, improving retention inside the bank. The process of developing a Career Growth Plan gives the employee opportunities to discuss their desire to learn new or different skills as well as to talk about the other opportunities available inside the bank in other areas.

The annual performance review process offers opportunities for managers to celebrate the successes of their employees, as well as talk about what other opportunities they may have interest in. In both this and the Career Growth Plan process, the manager is encouraged to help connect their employees to others within the bank who can also support their professional development goals.

FSA Federal is committed to supporting the growth of our employees and recently launched a new, comprehensive Professional Development Program. As part of this program, FSA may sponsor certifications, offer tuition reimbursement, and help maintain professional certifications, licenses, and memberships. In addition, FSA offers free online courses covering an extensive range of topics. These programs help ensure our employees stay up to date with industry standards and prepare them for new career opportunities. Employees are encouraged to pursue education that is not only relevant to their current roles, but also supports their ongoing career progression.

Please describe a few of your professional development programs.

My name is Alex Thompson and I am the Director of Talent Development at HashiCorp. All of our employees have access to Quarterly Learning, live programming sessions with our talent development team offering workshops on topical skills and behaviors that will support an employee’s performance that quarter, such as goal setting, achieving results, collaborating with others, and communication skills. All new managers take part in the Manager Journey, a program curated to support their onboarding into a management role at HashiCorp.

Directors and Senior Directors are invited to participate in the HashiCorp Leadership Development Program, a cohort-based programming for leaders to develop their self awareness, build their connections across the business, and develop leadership behaviors and skills such as inclusive leadership practices, cross-functional problem solving, achieving results through others, and developing strategy.

Employee engagement is often driven by a positive career experience and an employee’s belief there are professional development opportunities for them. As a company, Hashicorp focuses on creating an environment where employees can identify their career goals and develop them by ensuring the right practices, resources, and enablement opportunities are in place. Meaningful professional development should be unique to the employee, so we encourage all employees to have a personal development plan and to have regular career conversations with their manager.

Please describe a few of your professional development programs.

The Mentorship Program is an independently led experience between a mentee and a mentor. Resources are ongoingly provided to start this relationship and keep it successful & valuable.

We also have an Employee Resource Group called NEXT which provides tools and resources to promote career and leadership development. NEXT strives to supplement the growth of both soft and hard skills of NEXT members to help lead to more opportunities for career progression within Vertafore.

We offer our employees tuition reimbursement and access to Career Paths – an overview of the expectations, skills and requirements at each level within a career path and a way for employees to identify areas of focus and development opportunities to achieve their desired career goals.

On average, 20-25% of our employees move into a new role or get promoted every year. Offering professional development opportunities is beneficial both for the company and their employees. It makes our workforce more knowledgeable and more agile, leading to a stronger organization and a foundation of respect for our employees.
