Major changes to our ways of life and work can, to those willing to be open-minded, represent major new opportunities. For businesses like these three, the pandemic shook things to the core, often breaking up sediment and allowing for rapid growth or evolution that “normal” business cycles might not have allowed. Here are a handful of companies that have emerged post-pandemic in new regions in the U.S. and the greater world at large.
How did the pandemic affect your business?
The pandemic, and the subsequent shift to remote work in the service industry, led to unprecedented growth in our business. As an innovative end-to-end telecommunications deployment services and smart solutions provider, we experienced a monumental increase in the demand for best-in-class telecommunications solutions as much of the workforce moved from concentrated urban areas to more suburban and rural areas to conduct their work online. Since the pandemic, we’ve expanded to multiple new markets and continue to grow as the appetite for 5G and smart technology increases both in the United States and around the world.

How did the pandemic affect your business?
As one of the world’s leading facilities management companies in partnership with some of the top Fortune 100 retailers and grocers in the US, it was more important than ever for City Facilities Management (US) LLC to help its customers stay productive during the pandemic. A shrinking workforce made it harder for grocers and retailers to run their businesses smoothly, in addition to the already daunting task of maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for their shoppers. City was tasked with retaining its staff while completing job targets on time, as well as taking care of any emergency efforts at its customers’ stores. City was able to mobilize its services by installing plexiglass barriers at cash registers, establishing one-way entry and exit pathways, performing emergency fixes on a timely schedule and more when called upon with its existing customer workforce. However, City’s biggest focus was going above and beyond in caring for its team members so that they could continue to show up for City’s customers day in and day out and deliver all “ordinary” maintenance, electrical, R/HVAC and exterior services when their customers and communities needed them most. As a result of City’s focused care and attention, it was one of the few companies across the nation to experience growth during the pandemic, expanding its contract with one of its current retail customers twice.

City has always held a progressive view of looking into new markets and identifying opportunities to deliver improved service and value to customers. City is currently investing and exploring opportunities in the central and western areas of the US as well as further north into Canada. City understands the current facility maintenance market available to businesses and is confident that its unique partnership model can bring significant benefits by way of service improvements and cost savings to businesses across the nation.
