“Here at Beacon Hill, we are deeply committed to empowering our employees to give back and make a positive impact in their communities,” stated Emma Keery, Marketing Coordinator at Beacon Hill. “On top of region-focused philanthropic outings, such as providing holiday gifts to children in need through The Home for Little Wanderers in Boston or packing pallets of food for families facing food insecurity at Loaves and Fish in Charlotte, Beacon Hill has also started a quarterly company-wide initiative for various community outreach projects. For our first quarter outreach in 2024, we focused on the Senior Citizen Community by sending handwritten letters to seniors in nursing home who are suffering from isolation.”
How does this commitment to giving back align with your broader corporate values?
“Beacon Hill’s commitment to giving back to the greater community is derived directly from our founding mission: to embody trust, decency, honesty and mutual respect,” Emma explained. “As a whole, these principles are vital to us both inside and outside of our work functions. In the broadest sense, the ongoing goal and driving passion of our organization is to help people, and in doing so, to create a brighter future. Thus, if we are given an opportunity to serve the community beyond just helping people find jobs, we will always take it. Giving back at work is important to our organization not only for the positive impact it has on communities and individuals but also for the benefits it brings to the company and the employees within it, including employee engagement and personal and professional growth.”

Stop & Shop associates both at our stores and our corporate support offices have the opportunity to give back to causes they care about through our Beyond the Aisles grant program. Associates can apply each year for a grant of up to $500 to support a 501c3 non-profit they’re passionate about. Each Stop & Shop store also has funding to use for local community giving, whether it’s a school sports team that’s raising funds for new uniforms – or gift cards to help a local food pantry stock its shelves.

Chamberlain Group provides volunteer opportunities throughout the year for our ONETEAM to give their time to open doors in the communities we live and work in. Volunteer events at Cradles to Crayons’s Giving Factory for MLK Day of Service or at numerous volunteer build days with Habitat for Humanity are a few examples.
Additionally, through our People of Color & Allies (POCA) business resource group, our employees engage with Chicago Scholars by volunteering their time in a variety of ways. Chicago Scholars offers support to high school seniors through college selection, application, financial support, and year one mentoring as they transition from high school to college. Employees volunteer their time to assist in selecting candidates for the program, act as mentors during the application and college selection process, and mentor members who are transitioning to college year one. Our CEO, Jeff Meredith, has personally volunteered and works with the scholars in the program.
