Data Snapshot: Is Your Company Transparent About its Financial Well Being?

How strongly do employees feel that the companies they work for are totally open and honest with them about their financial standings and overall well being? Few would expect to be let in on all their company’s corporate secrets, but financial stamina is directly connected to each worker’s livelihood, so it’s a fair question to ask whether employees feel their employer shoots straight with them on company outlook and the state of company coffers.

The info comes from the latest reading of an ongoing study by Comparably, wherein anonymous respondents were asked to answer the question, “Is your current company transparent about the financial status and well being of your company?” More than 10,000 replied to the query.

Men are a bit more trusting in this regard. 71% of men responded that they felt their company was indeed transparent with employees about its financial status, but only 65% of females who answered the question felt the same.

A similar spread exists among responses when broken down by ethnicity. While 73% of Asian or Pacific Islander respondents felt secure that they could trust the figures handed down by their company, only 62% of African-American could say the same. Caucasian responses actually came down in the middle (68%) of these extremes.

Responses were fairily consistent when looked at in terms of age groups. There is a mild spike in confidence in their company’s work for workers in their mid-30s, as well notable dip in trust among the 61-65 age group.

Trust in one’s company grows steadily.Entry-level employees (64%) were the least-trusting going in, but responses began to rise as we looked at responses from employees who had worked for the company 3 to 6 and 7 to 10 years (both 70%.) The clear implication is that a company needs to earn trust from its employees over time in the modern business world.
