The country’s most popular pizza delivery franchises are the subject of today’s Culture Showdown. Are employees happy working for Pizza Hut? Does Domino’s provide any kind of active company culture? Read on to see what Comparably’s employee-submitted data tells us about how happy workers are at both companies.
OVERALL CULTURE

Employees from Domino’s say they “enjoy the independence of the position and the tips” and that the company offers “a laid-back atmosphere and low stress for the most part.” “We all work together and have fun,” says another. And one worker says they love “watching the smiles and hearing the kids say wow when I give them a dough show.”
Over at Pizza Hut, employees say the company is “warm, welcoming and understanding” and that management “care(s) about your problems and works with you.” On the negative side, one worker writes, “We are encouarged not to talk, so it’s very depressing.”

Domino’s workers call the company leadership, “not too formal and they are somewhat down to earth” and say management is “reasonable and fair.” Another adds, “They promised an opportunity to progress to management, and they delivered.”
A Pizza Hut employee calls company management “down to earth and realistic” as well as “friendly.” Another says that “leadership needs to work on communication at all levels.”

Domino’s employees wish they rated “more money per hour for the grief.” “I just feel that we should get paid a little more than minimum wage. I know fast food joints are not high-paying, but most fast food places have raised their wages,” says another.
A Pizza Hut delivery driver complains, “I use my own car, my own gas, pay for my own car maintenance, but my pay rate without tips is only 7.25. And there are a lot of people who either don’t tip good or don’t tip at all. I get literally no benefits whatsoever except free food.” Another writes, “I’d feel better if my wage reflected my work ethic.”

A Domino’s employee says “benefits are minimal unless you are in management.” Another writes, “We wish we made more money so we could afford the insurance.”
One Pizza Hut worker cites the need for “more quality health care and not some fly by night heath care that offers the worst coverage I have ever seen at an outrageous cost the employee.” Another adds,“the health care is going to include dental and vision soon.
A Domino’s employee says the company is “personality-wise, very diverse. Racially, not very diverse.”
A worker from Pizza Hut calls the company’s workers “mainly Caucasian.”
