The Top 100 highest-rated companies with the Happiest Employees are determined based on sentiment ratings provided by employees on Comparably.com over the past year. Workers were asked a variety of questions on topics related to their overall happiness at work. Methodology is outlined below the lists.
“Our data shows that the happiest employees are often those who feel valued by their employers through a variety of factors like competitive compensation, clear goals, work-life balance, and a general excitement working for their organizations,” said Comparably co-founder/CEO Jason Nazar. “The top-rated companies on our annual list succeed at meeting the needs of their workers across these very important factors.”
This distinction is segmented into two lists: Top 100 Large companies (more than 500 employees) and Top 100 Small/Mid-Size companies (500 employees or fewer). Links to the full lists will go live when the embargo is lifted:

Methodology
- Happiest Employees is an annual list derived from top sentiment ratings provided by employees who anonymously rated their employers on Comparably.com during a 12-month period (Sept. 14, 2021 through Sept. 14, 2022) on topics that contribute to their overall happiness at work.
- Questions were asked in a variety of data-driven formats (yes/no, true/false, 1-10 scale, multiple-choice). The answer to each question was given a numerical score and then compared to companies of similar size. Sample questions include:
- Is your work environment positive or negative?
- Do you believe you’re paid fairly?
- Are you satisfied with your benefits?
- Do you feel burnt out at work?
- Are your company’s goals clear, and are you invested in them?
- Are you typically excited about going to work each day?
- Do you look forward to interacting with your coworkers?
- Are you proud to be part of your company?
- On a scale of 1-10, how likely are you to recommend your company to a friend?
- There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination or an application process required.
- To qualify, Large companies (more than 500 employees) must have met a minimum of 75 employee participants and Small/Mid-Size companies (500 employees or less) needed a minimum of 25 participants. For fairness and statistical significance, additional weight was given to companies with more employee ratings relative to company size.
- There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required. The final rankings were compiled from 15 million ratings across 70,000 companies in the U.S. and Canada.
