How These Companies Are Improving Their Benefits

How have your benefits evolved recently?

“Our employees have been asking for more work-life balance and mental health support, and we listened,” said Angela Morrow, Benefits Manager at Beacon Hill. “Based on what we heard, we created a new Parental Leave Policy for all internal Beacon Hill employees to support them in the next chapter of their lives and help alleviate the burden that taking this necessary time away from work can put on their families financially. We now provide all employees with 3 weeks of vacation time upon hire, as well as a birthday floater! Regarding mental health, we added Lyra Health to our employer-sponsored benefits, which provides employees with coaching and therapy sessions at no cost to them, and a wide array of other EAP-type services.”

What impact has this had on retention and morale?

“We have heard great things from employees,” Angela stated. “Being able to spend those first weeks or months at home with their family has really had an impact! Having more time to unwind from work with the added vacation time and birthday has also been received well, and we feel it gives employees the chance to work hard and be rewarded with a well-deserved break. Lyra has also been shown to be quite beneficial, and 14.3% of our population have taken advantage of it in just the first few months!”
