Along with our compensation survey, we polled our users asking them “Do You Have a Mentor at Work” and “Do you have a close friend at work”. A great deal of research shows that people that have a best friend at work, tend to stay in those companies longer. And I’ve written extensively about the value of mentors.
Over 1000 people in tech responded to the data below. In almost every job function, Women are more likely to answer “Yes”, they have a mentor at work, and 2Xs as many female vs male execs have mentors.
Also fascinating is that in every case, more women report have a close friend at work, with one notable exception: Engineers.
