Nearly 90% of Tech Workers Say Their Employers Support LGBTQ Employees

Apple, Google, and Twitter are just some of the major tech companies known for offering benefits that support gay and transgender employees, but they’re hardly the only ones.

At a time when diversity is a subject of heated national debate, nearly 90% of all tech workers say their companies are supportive of LGBTQ employees, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably.

Young workers feel this way most

The youngest group of workers seem to have the most faith in their company’s support of LGBTQ workers (92%), though workers at the older end of the spectrum remain resolute in this belief as well (86%).

The most LGBTQ-friendly cities

The cities where employees were most likely to say that their employers are gay and transgender-friendly are Portland, Seattle, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, and D.C. (all of which have 90% or above).

The cities with the lowest percentage of workers who say their employees are gay and transgender-friendly are Austin, Salt Lake City, and Houston.

The data comes from the responses of more than 1,000 workers across the technology industry as of Aug. 30.
