Why These 11 Companies Love To Hire Veterans

Next Monday, May 31st, is Memorial Day, during which we commemorate the men and women who died while in the military service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle.

In recognition of those who gave their lives, here are eleven companies that all celebrate, honor, and – of course –  employ veterans that returned from service and were asked to then pick up their lives and careers again in midstream, or to begin them in a world less structured than the one they knew in the Armed Forces. It’s not always the easiest shift to make, but these companies recognize – apart from our ethical debt to them – that these veterans often emerge from the armed services with highly valuable skill sets and deep regard for teamwork

What are some of the benefits to Activision Blizzard of hiring military veterans?

We know from decades of working with the military community that veterans bring leadership, loyalty, teamwork, resilience, technical acumen, and cross-cultural experience. Each of these attributes is critical to making our epic entertainment for the global player community we serve, which is why we want more veterans to join our ranks.

We know veterans – they’re not just patriots, but assets to our economy and society, and we’ve experienced this first-hand through our long-standing commitment to the veteran community. For example, our CEO, Bobby Kotick, founded and continues to support The Call of Duty Endowment; to the best of our knowledge, it is the largest private funder of veteran employment and has helped place over 85,000 Veterans into high-quality jobs across the economy. We’ve also learned this through our annual Veterans Day of Service, our company’s global volunteering event, where more than 1,000 employees participate to give back to local veteran communities across the globe. Finally, our ongoing commitment to veterans within the company is seen through our large and vibrant Veterans Employee Network, which supports the company’s efforts to hire, retain and engage those who served in uniform.
