Mr. John F. McGrath, Jr. has been the Chief Financial Officer of Atara Biotherapeutics, Inc. since January 2013 and has been its Executive Vice President since January 2013. Mr. McGrath served as its Secretary of Atara Biotherapeutics, Inc. until February 17, 2016. Mr. McGrath served as Financial Expert of Actel Corporation and Endwave Corporation. He served as Chief Investment Officer of Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, where he joined in 2009 as an Executive-in-Residence and was a part of the Operating team. Mr. McGrath served as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for eight years at Network Equipment Technologies Inc. since November 2001 and served as its Principal Accounting Officer. He served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Heritage Bank of Commerce. Mr. McGrath served as an Independent Consultant to enterprise software firm Niku Corp. At Aspect Communications, he served as a Developer of Hardware and Software Solutions for customer contact centers, including Vice President of Finance and Director of Finance for Europe, Middle East and Africa. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. McGrath served as a Manager in the High Technology and Manufacturing Group at Ernst & Young LLP. He has more than 20 years of experience working at high-growth technology companies. Mr. McGrath served as a Director of Endwave Corporation since January 27, 2005. Mr. McGrath served as a Director of Actel Corporation since April 4, 2008. He served on the Boards of Endwave Corporation. He served as Director of Finance at TCSI Corp. Mr. McGrath served as a Director of Heritage Bank of Commerce. Mr. McGrath served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Presidio Fund. He was a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California and is an Active Member of Financial Executives International. Mr. McGrath received an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business, with a focus on Finance and International Business and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Wyoming.
