Executive Bio

Mr. James A. Nash, also known as Jim, was the Senior Vice President of Technology Development and Operations at ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc. since August 2015 and was responsible for pharmaceutical development, manufacturing and GMP quality assurance. Mr. Nash served as the Chief Operating Officer of Napo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since December 12, 2007. He has almost 30 years of experience with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Prior to joining ACADIA, Mr. Nash served as Vice President, Technology Development and Operations at ViroPharma Inc. from 2008 to 2014, where he established supply chain, quality assurance and process development organizations in a rapidly growing specialty pharmaceutical company and supported the successful launch of Cinryze??? for the treatment of hereditary angioedema. He served as an Executive Vice President for Supply Chain of Allergan plc (alternate name Actavis, Inc. and Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) since August 16, 2004. He was responsible for manufacturing operations and quality assurance for Watson's business. Mr. Nash has extensive operational experience to the Watson organization, particularly in the areas of process development, technical operations, manufacturing systems, quality operations, materials management, and engineering. Mr. Nash worked at Actavis, Inc. as Executive Vice President, Technical Operations where he was responsible for managing seven manufacturing locations worldwide. He began his pharmaceutical career in 1977, joining Searle Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a division of Monsanto. Having gained experience in all facets of supply chain, he became General Manager, Searle Chemicals, Inc., and Senior Corporate Redesign, with profit and loss responsibility for the chemical team as well as leadership of the corporate redesign initiative, which resulted in significant changes to the corporate operating model. Following completion of this initiative, he was named Vice President, Manufacturing, with global manufacturing operations responsibility for drug substance and drug product, including 13 U.S. locations, Latin America and Europe. He subsequently joined Chiron Corporation, where he held global responsibility as Senior Vice President, Technology Development and Operations, BioPharmaceuticals from 2002 to 2004. Prior to joining Chiron Corporation, he served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Manufacturing and interim Head of Development for Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 2000 to 2002. From 1977 to 2000, Mr. Nash held various positions, including the Vice President, Manufacturing, at Searle Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Northwestern University.
