Diversity and Inclusion at Activision Blizzard

A Culture of Inclusion and Belonging

Diversity fuels innovation, so we’re creating an environment where differences are embraced, valued, celebrated and always welcomed. Our best work comes from a culture in which our employees bring their authentic and best selves – we work hard to create an environment that encourages and celebrates this belief. And we’re proud that we have been recognized for our efforts, including being named one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index in 2019 and 2020.

We understand there is still work to do, and we continue our efforts by focusing on our people, culture, content, and communities.

Our People. Our Culture.

We value the diversity of the Activision Blizzard Community and understand that our employees and players come from a wide array of backgrounds. In order to deliver epic and engaging entertainment for a diverse, growing global audience, our workforce must reflect these communities and have the opportunities and resources to unlock their potential. By embedding DE&I practices and programs in the full employee lifecycle, we strive to attract, retain, and grow world-class talent that is reflective of our player communities.

Across our organization, fostering an inclusive culture where employees feel valued, heard and a sense of belonging is mission-critical. One way we are working towards this is through the expansion?of our Employee Network groups, which create opportunities?for cultural awareness, professional development, networking, community involvement, and player connections. These groups are inclusive by design, and are open to?all employees.

Our Content. Our Communities.

Inclusive game and content design is an absolute necessity. From developing unique tools to assess the diversity of characters in a game, to focusing on making our games more accessible to gamers with varying abilities, our goal is to create content that welcomes all players.

The ability to drive positive impact reaches beyond our global gaming community. We develop partnerships that increase diversity in our industry and create bigger and better opportunities for future generations of game-changers.

We invest in programs that provide underserved students with exposure to education and career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Blizzard Entertainment partners with Girls Who Code, a nonprofit focused on closing the gender gap in technology, to host a seven-week program for girls to learn coding and gain exposure to careers in tech.

At King, we collaborate with Diversi, a nonprofit working for greater diversity in gaming. King also awards full scholarships to several women attending college/university each year, sending them to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Through collaboration with STEM Advantage, to mentor and prepare women and students in underserved communities, Ada College, a digital design program, and Hello World, a computer science enrichment program, King provides access to science and information technology to children of all backgrounds, helping them build careers in the tech industry.
